We Can Stop TB
Tuberculosis can be both prevented and cured. However, TB causes greater number of deaths than any other diseases and twice as many people die of TB as those of HIV/AIDS which is known as a deadly virus.
The WHO set the theme for this year’s TB day as “We can stop TB: commit, invest, deliver.”
The WHO adopted the End of TB Strategy to exterminate the disease by 2030 and the second UN high-level meeting on TB was held in 2023 to set forth phased goals and call upon all member nations to turn out as one to this end.
Under the wise leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea, brisk efforts are being made in the DPRK to give full play to the advantages of the preventive medical service, so as to prevent the spread of TB among the residential communities and make all the people contribute to the development of society in good health.
A nationwide system of vaccinating people against TB has been established by which vaccination against TB is conducted on a regular basis, thus raising the rate of TB vaccination on a high level. And measures have been taken to conduct medical checkup among residents regularly to detect and treat all TB patients promptly. In addition, all the people are encouraged to take morning exercise and jogging regularly so as to improve their resistance to diseases, and to observe the rules of personal hygiene and always keep their workplaces and homes clean and tidy.
The DPRK will further intensify the work to terminate TB and thereby make all the people lead a civilized life in good health to their heart’s content.
