International Day of the Midwife Observed

An event took place at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital on May 6 to mark the International Day of the Midwife 2024.

Present there were officials of the Ministry of Public Health, officials concerned, and medical workers at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and in the capital city of Pyongyang.

An address was made at the event.

Noting that “Midwives: a vital climate solution” was set as the theme for this year by the International Midwives Federation, the speaker stressed that in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea midwives have been encouraged to fully display a high sense of responsibility and role in the work for providing pregnant women and nursing mothers and newborns with better environment and conditions and protecting their lives and promoting their health.

The speaker called on all midwives to add pleasure and happiness to families and society with their utmost sincerity and devoted efforts and to bring greater success in implementing the health policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Then exemplary midwives presented their experiences.
