Extraordinary Pride

Rim Un Sim has been working as a dermatologist at Kangdong County Hospital for 18 years.

Her dream in her university days was to become a renowned doctor at the county hospital who would be respected and loved by her villagers.

But she found her simple dream gradually fading away.

Whenever she saw many of patients, disappointed at the old equipment and poor health service condition of the hospital, go away to other hospitals, she would feel dispirited. And whenever she met her old alumni working in large hospitals, she felt envious of them and inferior to them.

But something happened like in a dream.

A modern hospital was built in the county. On the day when it started medical service, she shed a lot of tears.

She proudly said: So many patients come to the hospital from neighbouring counties and faraway regions that I am very busy all day long. But I never feel tired. Now I live a worthwhile life.

She is full of passion for her work.
