Nearly 30 Years in Obstetrical Sector

Ham Sun Hui, head of obstetrical department No. 2 of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, has been working in the field of obstetrics for nearly 30 years.

In these years of clinical activities, she actively explored and applied advanced treatment methods to improve the quality of medical service.

Among them, the method of health management of a woman pregnant with more than one baby is a valuable research project of great significance in obstetrical practice.

Seven years ago, when she was appointed head of the aforesaid department dealing exclusively with the women with multiple pregnancy, she found a problem in the course of applying a variety of treatment methods to ensure the safe multiple delivery. Since maximizing the duration of pregnancy is an important factor guaranteeing the life of newborns, she felt the need to put health management and treatment of pregnant women on a more scientific footing. She took the research project upon herself and comprehensively systematized the treatment tactics and medication for women with multiple pregnancy, so as to perfect medical skills suited to the specific conditions of the country. She also developed several advanced treatment methods including the one of hypocalcemia in pregnant women, thus contributing to smooth multiple deliveries.

As an official in charge of a department, she prepared her department members into those who devote themselves to the treatment of patients with high ability and warm human love.
