Ri Kwang Chon, PhD, Associate Professor and deputy director of Okryu Children's Hospital in charge of technical affairs, is discharging full responsibility for improving the quality of medical service.

He played a big role in pioneering pediatric surgery. While working as the head of the pediatric surgery department of Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences for more than 10 years, he has actively explored and applied advanced treatment methods for obstinate diseases.

After being transferred to Okryu Children's Hospital in 2013, he, through his examples, intensified technical guidance so that all departments of the hospital steadily studied and introduced advanced treatment methods.

Under his guidance, the methods of operation for various congenital heart malformations, including aortic enlargement plastic surgery, that requires high technical skills were developed and advanced methods of treatment for congenital megacolon and operation method for congenital cerebrovascular malformations were introduced to prove effective in clinical practice. 

While working as an official, he has also written several medical books and trained many academic degree and title holders.

He is a meritorious person of socialist patriotism.
