Efforts to Develop Intelligence of Children

Hwasong Nursery No. 3 in Hwasong District, Pyongyang, is effective in its work to develop children’s intelligence.

Kim Yong Ae, principal of the nursery, and its nurses regularly hold study sessions to improve their practical qualifications while introducing the advanced methods and experience of the established and renowned nurseries in such a way as to suit their actual conditions.

The nurses teach children songs, dances, paper folding and other things to suit their ages and psychological characteristics, thereby developing their intelligence and talents.

Especially, they apply dot cards proactively.

The dot cards that depict various patterns and animals with a certain number of dots help the children sharpen their insight and memory.

Pyon Jin Ok said: We showed dot cards to the children and made them memorize the dots on the cards. And we repeated the process while gradually increasing the number of the cards. Surprisingly, many children developed amazing ability of memorizing up to 100 cards in less than a month.
