Respected Health Workers

Medical workers at the Unme Polyclinic in Songyo District, Pyongyang, are fulfilling their responsibilities and duties for the promotion of the people’s health.
Having renovated the environment of medical service in a short period, they are now focusing on improving the quality of medical service.
Director Ri Chun Gum and doctors of the polyclinic treat patients at the polyclinic in the morning and in the afternoon conduct check-up for the residents in the neighbourhoods under their charge and hygienic information work while paying attention to the symptoms and health of chronic patients registered at the polyclinic.
They treat the inhabitants under their charge like their own flesh and blood.
An Hui Guk has been treating a special-class honoured disabled soldier living in Tungme-dong No. 2.
She has visited the patient every day for years to apply acupuncture, moxibustion, massage and other therapies to him. Her sincerity inspires the patient with the zeal for life.
While doing her rounds of the families in neighbourhood unit No. 5 under her charge, Choe Sol Gyong, a department chief of the polyclinic, found a resident who was in shock due to gastric perforation. After taking first-aid measures, she brought the patient to a higher-level hospital and sat up all night at the hospital waiting for the results of the operation.
After the successful operation, she made every effort to help recover the patient as soon as possible.
The polyclinic regularly organizes in-house consultations for treating war veterans, persons of wartime merits, aged persons, pregnant women, mothers with several children and chronic patients in the area under its charge to take appropriate treatment measures.
The residents affectionately call the medical workers of the polyclinic “our section doctors.”
