By Actively Applying Traditional Koryo Therapies

Koryo medicine is a precious legacy of the Korean people, which their ancestors created and developed over a long period of time. In the DPRK many clinics, the terminal curative and preventive organs of the country, are actively introducing the traditional medicine into the treatment of patients.

The Kyongru Polyclinic in Central District, Pyongyang, is one of them.

Ri Sol Mi, a doctor at the polyclinic, is treating digestive troubles, slipped disc and other diseases with acupuncture and moxibustion.

She treated different kinds of cases with acupuncture and moxibustion, including a 5-year-old with dyspepsia.

As she remarkably improves the effect of treatment by making use of far-infrared moxibustion stone and resonant moxibustion stone without using modern medicines, she is called master Koryo therapist by inhabitants in the area under her charge.

Doctor Kim Ok Sim, too, is treating nervous system diseases with massage therapy.

For several months, she gave massage therapy to a patient in the area under her charge, who was unable to walk as a result of cerebral thrombosis. Thanks to her sincere effort, the patient could walk without the help of a walking stick since some days ago.

In addition, all other doctors of the polyclinic are enthusiastically applying Koryo therapies while treating in the morning the patients who come to the polyclinic and making the rounds of the families under their charge in the afternoon.
