Myongbang-brand Koryo Medicines

The Myongbang Pharmaceutical Factory is a unit which produces Koryo medicines developed by the Koryo Medicine General Hospital, widely known as the centre of traditional medicine in the DPRK.

In 1990 when the factory was founded, its major production indexes were medicines made of ginkgo leaf extract developed and standardized by Prof. Kim Jong Gil, PhD, candidate academician and researcher at the Koryo Medicines Institute of the Koryo Medicine General Hospital.

Every year the factory collects gingko leaves in the mountains and fields far away from the capital city and obtains extract from them through several separation processes for use in production.

The Gingko Leaf Cardiac Injection and Gingko Leaf Cardiac Tincture won the national quality authentication certificates, and the method of obtaining gingko leaf extract was awarded the February 16 Sci-Tech Prize, the top sci-tech prize of the country.

It is our factory’s invariable goal to produce better, faster and in a larger amount the new medicines developed by the competent Koryo medicine research group as suited to the physical constitutions and characteristics of the Korean people.
