Twenty Kinds of Nutritive Foods Supplied to Children

In June 2021, the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea adopted it as an important decision to supply dairy products and other nutritive foods to the children across the country at state expense.

The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held the following year discussed the issue of putting nutritional care of children on a scientific basis as an important agenda item.

Accordingly, the existing nutrition standard for children was reexamined and a new one was made by considering the world standards, Korean people’s dietary life and physical constitution of Korean children.

As a result, as many as 20 kinds of nutritive foods are supplied to all children across the country after the adoption of a new childcare policy.

Nutritive foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk (yogurt), vegetables, fruits, bread, sweets, biscuits, etc. are supplied to the children at nurseries and kindergartens every day.

This nutrition standard is made in such a way as to raise the growth and development of the children to meet the age-specific growth standard set by WHO.
