Sincere Devotion to Children

Kim Jong Suk Nursery in Moranbong District, Pyongyang, is the first weekly nursery built in Korea after its liberation from the Japanese military occupation. The nursery with 77-year history, was renovated in 1988, resulting in the remarkable expansion of its size and accommodation capacity. And it has since undergone facelift several times.

Consisting of four buildings, it is well furnished with conditions needed for the upbringing of children such as rooms for education, rooms for children and rooms for intellectual games plus a wading pool. It directs efforts to the nutritional management of children with the main emphasis put on bringing them up healthily. While trying its best to offer diverse daily menu for children, it takes scrupulous measures to prevent digestive disorders and rickets which are commonplace among children.

Bearing in mind that the nursery days are an important period for human beings in developing personality traits and acquiring healthy habits, its nurses pay due attention to this end. They organize lessons on various musical instruments, songs and dances as well as intellectual games in conformity with the psychological characteristics and aptitudes of children.

At the same time, they pay close attention to the moral education of children, like good manners in greetings and speech.

Officials and teachers of the nursery are putting their heart and soul into the upbringing of children.
