Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory

The Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory in Songyo District, Pyongyang, is a centre and model of the DPRK’s pharmaceutical industry.

By November 2023 over 20 modernization projects were carried out, including the renovation of the modern and Koryo medicine workshops, both main production units, and the construction of the packing materials workshop and infusion workteam, plus installation of hundreds of pieces of equipment.

Now all the production lines and environment of the factory satisfy GMP standards.

The factory with its production capacity increased several times turns out efficacious medicines, especially over-the-counter and officinal ones.

All the production is monitored by an integrated production system built in the general production control room. The system helps optimize the factory’s business activities and steadily improve the quality of medicines.

The factory is also involved in designing labels of products for other pharmaceutical factories across the country.

All the production lines of the factory ranging from raw material feeding to packaging meet international standards, and well over a hundred kinds of medicines are rolling off the production lines. They are popular among people and supplied to hospitals and pharmacies in the capital city and local areas.
