“It Is beyond My Wildest Dream”

Acupuncture enjoys growing popularity as it kills pains by stimulating meridian points and harmonizing the channels, and activates the overall function of the organism.

The acupuncture department of the Acupuncture Hospital under the Koryo Medicine General Hospital is well known for its success in medical treatment.

In the past, the department, by applying Koryo therapies, cured patients whose treatment had been regarded as impossible with modern medicine.

Over time such tradition has been carried on.

Shortly ago, the department helped Kim Jong Su, an honoured disabled soldier who lives in Neighbourhood Unit No. 9, Phyonghwa-dong, Sinuiju, North Phyongan Province, stand up again on his own feet. He was paralysed after he sustained vertebral fracture.

In fact, when he was brought to the hospital, Kim was unable to walk without any support as he was suffering from sensation disorder due to contusion, coupled with difficulty in relieving himself and sexual dysfunction.

Sin Yong Gun, head of the department, and doctors Ri Hyang Suk and Hwang Chol identified acupoints according to the patient’s condition and applied electroacupuncture based on the method of nervous acupoint selection.

They also let him practise walking, and provided him with health foods.

They devoted themselves to his treatment as they would do their own flesh and blood. Thanks to this, he began to show signs of recovery and he could leave the hospital in 30-odd days.

“It is beyond my wildest dream,” said Kim Jong Su. “Thanks to their devotion, my wife has been pregnant and I can walk along like this.”
