A Doctor Good at Treating Refractory Skin Diseases
Kim Yong Hui, chief of the skin department of the South Hwanghae Provincial General Hospital, is renowned for her skills in treating refractory skin diseases.
In the past, it has been customary to use hormonal and immunosuppressive agents in the treatment of skin diseases. However, this approach has only left patients with more pain due to its short recurrence period.
She read many books to find new approach. In the course of this, she developed the idea of applying Koryo therapy to refractory skin diseases and intensified research. Finally, she found a new method of combining vitamins and minerals with moxibustion, cupping and acupuncture. The main advantage of this treatment is to promote metabolism and regulate the immunity of organisms.
In the last decade of her career as a department chief, she has treated more than 200 patients with refractory skin diseases.
Kang Kum Chol, living in Neighbourhood Unit No. 40 of Raengchon-dong No. 2, Tongdaewon District, Pyongyang, said: “I had long suffered from psoriasis. My wish was to wear a short-sleeved shirt as others do. It came true thanks to Kim Yong Hui.”
She won the title of renowned doctor in November last year.
