For Improving Quality of Dental Treatment
Medical workers at the dental department of the Kim Man Yu Hospital have introduced advanced treatment methods into clinical practice.
Jong Song Chol, a department chief, introduced a dental prosthesis treatment method based on zinc oxide and tannin temporary luting agent.
In the dental practice, the prosthesis involves a procedure to cover the tooth with a dental material. Dentists block the dentin’s nerves and use gel-type temporary luting agent to increase the adherence of the dental material and tooth.
Having set the goal of making an advanced luting agent by his own efforts and technology, Jong selected zinc oxide and tannin, which are used as dental cement and hardener, as the main raw materials. Then he intensified research to develop a gel-type luting agent by adding another material to them. After extracting the main raw materials of high purity, he confirmed their mixing ratio and finally produced a temporary luting agent that reached a high level in all technical indices.
By using domestic raw materials, Ri Chol Nam and Kim Myong Gak, doctors at the department, developed a nano-Rudbeckia laciniata liniment as an antiviral agent for herpetic stomatitis occurring among children and a tooth treatment device conducive to improving the quality of dental treatment. Their creations were highly appreciated at the National Exhibition of Sci-Tech Successes in Public Health-2023.
Medical workers at the department are successfully treating various dental diseases, which were formerly regarded as impossible to cure, by introducing advanced treatment methods conducive to improving the quality of medical service.
