An Authority on Chest Surgery

Song Un, chief of the Chest Surgery Department at Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences Hospital, has achieved many successes over the past two decades, typical examples being the compilation of over ten textbooks and reference books including “Chest Surgery for Adults” and “Mediastinal Diseases,” the publication of scores of essays like “Recent Trend of Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Treatment” and development of advanced surgical methods of great clinical significance.

Recently, he has developed advanced surgical methods, including “Three-Area One-Stage Radical Operation for Esophageal Cancer” and “Thoracoscopic Minimally Invasive Surgery with Single-Hole Circular Wound Restoration for Idiopathic Pneumothorax.”

The surgical methods he has applied to clinical practice are highly appreciated by patients for being highly efficacious and ensuring maximum quality of life after surgery.

In addition, he published the “Treatment of Spontaneous Gangrene by Intramuscular Injection of Myelomononuclear Cells” and “First-stage Esophageal Plastic Operation Using the Small Intestines in Esophageal Cancer” in a UK’s SCI international academic journal and an India’s international academic journal.
