Merited Household Doctor
Recently, Sunan District, Pyongyang, hosted a meeting to congratulate the merited persons in the district on the theme of “patriotism and devotion.”
The one who received more bouquets than anybody else at the meeting was Ro Ok Gyong, a doctor at the Anjong Polyclinic.
Ro, 49, has been working as a household doctor for 24 years.
She combines warm human love for the inhabitants under her charge and high skills of making a prompt and accurate diagnosis and treating the patients wonderfully.
One day a woman living in Anjong-dong visited her with a baby no more than three months old.
The baby had had a fever with no reason for several days. Ro immediately asked the mother about her baby’s conditions and examined it closely. After a while, she made a diagnosis that the cause of the fever was dyspepsia and buckled down on treating the patient by applying necessary medicines and Koryo therapy
Even after the baby’s fever had subsided, she visited the patient’s home almost every day, bringing nutritious foods and other necessary things with her.
Whenever she was informed of an emergency case, she would immediately visit the patient never minding the time of the day and treated the patient by properly combining therapies like moxibustion, acupuncture, cupping and massaging according to his or her conditions. And she obtained medicinal herbs from afar and prepared decoction for sick inhabitants.
As she always takes good care of their health, the inhabitants in Anjong-dong deeply respect and follow her.
