Putting Nutritional Care of Children on a Scientific Basis
Researchers at the Institute of Nutritional Care of Children under the Academy of Medical Sciences in the DPRK are intensifying research into putting nutritional care of children on a scientific basis.
A research group of the nutritional epidemiology section of the institute has recently directed efforts to research to set scientific nutritional and hygienic standards of dairy products supplied to children at the state expense and introduce them across the country.
To this end, a research group went to nursing institutions across the country to learn in detail about the situation and assess the nutritional status of children by regions, and deepened the study of ways and criteria for improving the supply of nutrients.
In the course of this, they compiled "Guide for Nutritional Care of Children" according to categories, thus laying a foundation for scientific management of children's nutrition.
Not content with this, they solved several academic problems arising in the establishment of the comprehensive management information system for children's growth and development.
As it contains data on the height and weight of children, supply of nutritious foods to them, their nutrition status and others, the information system helps analyze the growth and development of children by age and take timely measures.
Now the research group strives to make the results of its research work pay off in practice.
