Telemedicine Proves Effective
The telemedicine section of the hospital of Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences started its service in October Juche 104 (2015).
In the past the hospitals in the lowest echelons in regions had to dispatch the patients, whose treatment was difficult, to provincial or central hospitals.
After telemedicine was introduced, many people are enjoying its benefits.
The Hwaphyong County Hospital in Jagang Province held, through this system, technical consultation with an expert team of the university hospital and successfully conducted an operation on a patient, who had been suffering from pancreatic cyst.
Today the university hospital offers medical service to the preventive and curative organs at all levels across the country through this system.
To take an example. In Wira-ri, situated at the end of a ravine far away from the county town of Suan, North Hwanghae Province, the hospital doctors there conduct consultation for the emergency cases through this system and adopt relevant treatment methods.
All other preventive and curative organs across the country treat the patients, who are suffering from chronic diseases or who have to undergo surgery, with the help of this system.
The free telemedicine service actively contributes to promoting the people’s health.
