Developing Efficacious Koryo Medicines

The Pharmaceutical Institute under the Academy of Medical Sciences is directing great efforts to developing efficacious Koryo medicines with various medicinal herbs and other materials abundant in the country.

Recently the institute has developed a nasal spray of anti-biotic and anti-virus activator which is efficacious for treating and preventing influenza-casued microbism in respiratory system, as well as acute nasitis, laryngopharyngeal inflammation and tonsillitis.

The institute has also developed granules good for treating fever and respiratory and digestive disorders caused by various diseases.

For the production of the newly-developed medicines, it hosts short courses and consultative meetings of relevant units. Having improved quality management methods for various traditional medicines, it is now pushing ahead with the work to introduce them into Koryo medicine factories.
