Benefit of the Telemedicine System
One May night this year a doctor of Jucho Polyclinic in Musan County made an emergency phone call to the Musan County Hospital.
“We have an emergency case here.” The patient was a pregnant woman. Her labour came earlier than expected and she was unable to give an easy birth.
The lives of both the mother and the baby could be in danger while transporting, for the county hospital was a long way off.
The hospital immediately held a consultation with the doctors of the polyclinic through the telemedicine system. The doctors of the hospital took necessary measures one by one while hearing about the specific condition of the patient through the video phone. The patient gradually got better and finally gave birth safely.
The patient’s husband working in the Musan Mining Complex said in deep emotion: My wife could be saved and give birth to a boy thanks to the telemedicine system.
The polyclinic is receiving various types of telemedicine service through close contact with central hospitals like the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and Okryu Children’s Hospital via the county hospital.
