Pyongyang Municipal College of Medical Sciences

The college has made achievements in bringing up students into medical workers of high practical ability.

It has recently set the types of talents and the goals for training them in a scientific and reasonable way under a bold plan to develop its educational work onto a new higher stage.

It has reformed its educational systems, faculties, departments and chairs and organized the assessment of teachers’ qualifications frequently so that all chairs have been staffed with competent ones.

According to Kang Yun Hong, head of lecture guidance section, the college has paid close attention to improving teachers’ qualifications, with the result that they have produced several new teaching methods every year which were generalized across the country. They have also placed first in national teaching contests.

The teaching staff in anatomy, physiology, Koryo medicine, midwifery and other chairs make wide use of specimens, anatomical models of the human body and video programs during their lectures.

Lectures are also given at the labs in different hospitals in Pyongyang so that students can consolidate their knowledge acquired at the college.

A growing number of students have been awarded Scientific Research Prize for Students.

Last year alone, the college has developed wormwood-flavoured incense for air disinfection, mobile angioscopy, blood vessel display unit and ray treatment device based on selectable wave length. These products were highly appreciated at the 37th national sci-tech festival and granted a certificate of exploits to national science and technology, an invention certificate and a registration certificate of advanced technological product.
