One day in December 2000, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a newly-built syringe factory.

That day he paid close attention to the syringe needles produced at the factory.

While looking round the production lines, he said to officials: Major efforts should be directed to making syringe needles well; it is important for a syringe factory to make nice syringe needles; when I had injections with imported syringes, I felt some giving me pain but others not. I think it is because of the needles. 

Then he stressed the need to produce a large quantity of disposable syringes and gave instructions related with the development of the factory like the issue of dripping unit packaging. 

Before he left the factory, he said that he would start to use syringes produced by it and asked them repeatedly to deliver syringes to him through someone he would send the following day. 

Several days later the officials of the factory were told by an official that Chairman Kim Jong Il had said that he had an injection with the syringe produced at the Taedonggang Syringe Factory and he found the syringe was of good quality. 

They were deeply moved to hear that Chairman Kim Jong Il had tried the syringe on him.
