With Ennobling Humanity
President Kim Il Sung wisely led the work to raise the country’s medical science and technology to the world level.
One day in March 1974, Kim Il Sung met an official in the sector of public health. He said to the official that clinical research could be conducted not only in Pyongyang but also at other places like the then Sariwon University of Medical Sciences Hospital, Phyongsong University of Medical Sciences Hospital and Nampho Municipal Hospital which were newly built.
Around that time, most medical workers tended to conduct research only at large hospitals in Pyongyang like Korea General Red Cross Hospital and Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences Hospital.
Being told about this, Kim Il Sung took a measure of preventing medical science research bases from being concentrated in the capital so that medical science and technology of the country could develop in a balanced way on a nationwide scale.
Kim Il Sung taught the official the ways to set up clinical research centres of different specialized departments in local areas and intensify clinical research.
He said that as we are making a revolution to ensure that everyone leads a happy life, there is nothing to spare for the people’s health and that necessary measures should be taken.
His words reflected his ennobling humanity.
