Anecdotes

For the Future

One day in October Juche 71 (1982), two years after the inauguration of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il asked an official whether the maternity hospital supplied honey to the women who had just had a baby.

When he was told that honey was supplied to them on a regular basis, he said it was good and asked how honey was supplied.

The official answered that it was supplied at a price set by the state, but the price was low.

Kim Jong Il said: It is wrong for the maternity hospital to get money for honey; in our country women took honey after delivery from olden times; honey is very efficacious for health recovery of women who have had a baby; that is why the Party had the maternity hospital built and honey supplied to women after childbirth. Then he continued: Our Party does not spare anything for the future of the revolution.
