To Save Ordinary Students from the Jaws of Death

One day in January Juche 64 (1975), two students had a third-degree burn on over 60 percent of their bodies by an accident.

On receiving a report on this, Chairman Kim Jong Il said to relevant officials that as President Kim Il Sung valued and treasured students, they must be saved at all costs.

Having learned that it was impossible to save them with existing methods and a lot of special materials and rare medicines were required if new operation methods were to be to applied, he said that only if we could save them, we should do everything we could.

He told the officials to have all that was needed for their operation carried directly to the site and report to him of their state two times a day.

After receiving 32 major operations for over 140 hours in the period of ten days, the students were miraculously saved.
