With Love for Human Beings
One day in 1961, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung read an article carried in the then Minju Chongnyon newspaper.
The story was about an 8-year-old boy named Pang Ha Su having been miraculously saved in the then Hungnam Fertilizer Factory Hospital.
When he was rushed to the hospital, his vital signs were almost zero as he got third- degree burns over 48 percent of his body in an accident.
However, the medical team of the hospital did not give up but decided to perform skin grafting to save him.
On learning about this, students of Hamhung College of Medical Sciences who were on internship at the hospital and many other people gathered before the operating theatre to donate their skin.
Thanks to such sincerity, skin donated by scores of persons was grafted on the boy’s chest which was almost skinless.
Comrade Kim Il Sung called an official and said to him that he was deeply moved to read the article of the Minju Chongnyon in the morning and highly appreciated the event as something that could happen only in the era of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The next day he phoned a senior official of the province concerned and asked him to help with the boy’s treatment.
He sent expensive medicines until the patient recovered after four rounds of skin grafting. Afterwards, he showed his loving care and benevolence for him.
