On a Dredging Vessel

One day in April 1958, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung got on a dredging vessel on the sea off Nampho.

He shook hands with the crew members one by one, saying that he came to see them. Then he climbed down the steep narrow staircase and headed for the boiler room.

Officials said that he should not go in because the place was narrow and had a burning smell. But he went into the boiler room, saying that the boilermen did the most difficult work on the ship and that if he did not meet them, they would be much disappointed.

Looking at the equipment in the room, he said in an anxious tone that the boiler room was very hot, and stressed the need to install ventilation facilities as soon as possible so that the workers could work in a cool atmosphere.

Soon ventilation facilities were installed in the boiler room for the workers.
