Concern for Health of Service Workers

One day in August 2009, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the newly-built Pothonggang Shop.

That day he looked round various counters to inquire about the price of commodities and where they were produced.

Then he, estimating the indoor temperature, approached a cashier and asked her if she did not feel cold if she worked there for a good while.

The cashier told him that she felt cold a bit but she was all right.

He said to the officials that they only thought of keeping fruits in cold storage, and did not pay due attention to the fact that the people might get cold.

He said: Man is the main thing in everything; the shop’s service workers have to work here all day long; we should consider the people’s health before fruits; things are important but people are more important.

Just like a father who is concerned about his daughter’s health, he said to the cashier that direct cold wind was not good for her health, and personally adjusted the vanes of the air conditioner upwards.
