His Joy

On a Sunday in December 1971, some medical workers were called by President Kim Il Sung.

As they entered the room, he greeted them, saying that he was sorry to call them on Sunday.

When they were seated, he asked how the publication of the book Clinical Manual was going.

After hearing their answer that the book went to press and 10 000 copies of it would be printed first that year, he said with satisfaction that 10 000 copies would be enough to send a copy to each clinic.

Then he asked what its contents were and whether it was dealing with all departments including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and ophthalmology.

A medical worker rose and answered that the book was covering not only all specialized departments, but it also had an index and appendix at the end of the main text so that it could be easy to consult and convenient to use.

He was very pleased to hear that.

The publication of the book was closely associated with his deep concern. He personally proposed the compilation of the book and gave advice on the orientation of its editing and contents so that it could be helpful to improving the qualifications of medical workers.
