Mineral Spring in Mountainous Village

One day in April 1954 the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung visited a mineral spring site in a remote area of Sinjok-ri, Jonchon County, Jagang Province.  

Those days he was often on a field guidance trip to improve the livelihood of the provincial people deteriorated during the war as early as possible. That day, too, he was on a field guidance trip. While crossing steep Myongmun Pass in the province, he was told that there was a mineral water in Jonchon County and came there to see it firsthand.  

After tasting it, he highly appreciated the mineral water, saying that this was really good mineral water and that it was the best of all he had ever tasted visiting various places.

And he noted that the county people’s committee had better purify and bottle the mineral water and supply it to the workers, adding that the workers would be very happy if they drank it when they were hot while at work. 

That day he met an old man in his eighties whose family had lived in the locality down through three generations and asked him about the history of the mineral water and its medical efficacy in detail while further developing a plan to widely use the mineral water for the promotion of public health.

Later he ensured that a processing factory and several holiday camps were set up near the mineral water site. Thus the unknown mineral water in the remote place became well known across the country.
