To Cover the Whole Country with a Network of Nurseries

One day in March Juche 37 (1948), there was a presentation of a documentary film in a conference hall of the office building of the People’s Committee of North Korea in the presence of Comrade Kim Il Sung.

After showing the new life of the Korean people in the liberated country, the film introduced the then March 8 Nursery which had been built at the proposal of the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk

Smiling nursery workers taking over babies from their mothers and children enjoying themselves with toys and dolls or eating delicious foods at tables…

Looking at the scenes, Kim Il Sung said: We built a big nursery with much effort, but we have failed to provide it with necessary equipment and toys that suit the ages of children; we should provide everything needed for nursery even though it may hinder other sectors to some extent; we should build such nurseries in all cities and counties in the future; we should spare nothing for posterity.

Kim Il Sung, even while seeing a documentary film, conceived a grand plan to cover the whole country with a network of nurseries with the March 8 Nursery as the model.
