Earnest Request

In May 1972 the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il visited a hot spring sanatorium.

After going round various places of the sanatorium, he listened carefully to its head who said that the patients with hypertension, neuralgia and arthritis were having treatment there.

He said that balneotherapy was good for treating femoral fracture as well, adding that the treatment of surgical disorders could be more effective when it was combined with balneotherapy after surgery.

Then he continued to say that different bathing methods such as shower bath, water jetting, bubble bath, sand bath and hydromassage should be applied according to diseases with hot spring-based full bath as the main thing.

He said that the physiotherapy room should be well furnished, and that electrotherapy, pelotherapy, paraffin therapy and phototherapy should be provided. And he repeatedly stressed that the conventional therapy depending only on medication should be decisively eradicated, and that the treatment should be raised onto a high level.

Indeed, he regarded it as the standard of all his thinking and activities to promote the people’s health to the maximum.
